Samsung Galaxy S4 vs Nokia Lumia 920 Specs War: Who Wins And How?

Samsung launched the much-awaited Galaxy S4 on March 14, and the top-end specifications and features of the handset are enough to compete with any other smartphone in the industry.
The Nokia Lumia 920 is one of the most powerful Windows Phone 8 (WP8) smartphones available, but are the specifications Nokia is offering enough to compete with the latest Galaxy S4?

Processor
The Lumia 920 features a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon Qualcomm S4 processor, which Qualcomm claims has "best in-class performance." Depending on the region, the Galaxy S4 will sport a 1.6GHz Exynos octa-core CPU (international versions) or a 1.9GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 (U.S. version).

Display
The Lumia 920 sports a 4.5-inch AMOLED PureMotion HD+ display with 1280 x 768 pixels resolution. The Galaxy S4 has a 4.99-inch Super AMOLED display with 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution.
The Lumia 920 has a pixel density of 332 pixels per inch (ppi), which is bettered by the Galaxy S4's higher density of 441ppi.
Form Factor
The Lumia 920 measures 5.13 x 2.79 x 0.42 inches, whereas the Galaxy S4 has dimensons of 5.38 x 2.75 x 0.31 inches.
The Lumia 920 is wider and thicker than the Galaxy S4. Moreover, at 6.52 ounces, the Nokia offering is much heavier than the Galaxy S4, which weighs 4.59 ounces.
Memory
The Lumia 920 has 32GB of on-board storage option but no option to expand the memory using a microSD card.
On the other hand, the Galaxy S4 has 16/32/64GB on-board storage. It also comes with the option to expand up 64GB further via a microSD card.
Memory-wise, the Galaxy S4 edges out the Lumia 920, offering double the memory (2GB of RAM, compared to Lumia 920's 1GB).
Camera
The Nokia offering features a 8.7-megapixel primary camera compared to Galaxy's 13-megapixel one. The Lumia 920's camera packs in Carl Zeiss optics and is touted as one of the best in the business.
The Galaxy S4 has a better 2-megapixel front-facing camera when compared to the 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera of the Lumia 920.
Samsung announced that both the front and rear cameras on the handset can capture images simultaneously. "With Dual Video Call or Dual Video, friends and family can experience everything with you, no matter how far they may be," Samsung said.
Operating System
The Galaxy S4 runs on the latest Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, whereas the Lumia 920 comes pre-loaded with the latest Windows Phone 8 OS.
Battery
The Lumia 920 packs in a 2000mAh battery, which is smaller when compared to the 2600mAh battery of the Galaxy S4. The Lumia 920 supports up to 10 hours of talk time on 3G, whereas no information regarding talk-time is currently available for the Galaxy S4.
Availability and Colors
The Lumia 920 started retailing on November 2012 and is among one of the most popular smartphones available in the market. The Galaxy S4 is expected to hit the shelves in April this year; however, individual carriers will announce their own release date.
The Lumia 920 is available in yellow, white, red, black, and gray colors. Samsung will launch the Galaxy S4 in White Frost and Black Mist.
On paper, the Galaxy S4 surpasses the Lumia 920 easily; however, we will have to wait till the Galaxy S4 reaches customers and reviewers for the final verdict.
