Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 Love You Long Time

While the Samsung Galaxy S4 is expected to hit stores this month, only two US carriers have let out any sort of indications.

Both AT&T and US Cellular have announced the prices and pre-order dates for the Samsung Galaxy S4. However Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile still remain silent. Now in particular we like to focus on the Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 as it is the largest carrier in the US and hence expected to move the most models.
The Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 will be a quad-core model just like the other US carrier variants but having the largest LTE coverage, it will be a favorite. However as much as we might appreciate Verizon’s efforts to bring LTE everywhere, their contracts are a stickler.
If you plan on getting the Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 on contract when it finally launches this year, you will be in for a surprise. The Verizon upgrade cycle has been 20 months until now, however Droid-Life reports that as of right now it has been changed to 24 months (don’t get it mixed up with phone contract, this is the upgrade option). Here is an excerpt from the announcement explaining Verizon’s plans to keep you for longer:
Upgrade eligibility begins at the end of 24-month contract. The change allows customers to plan on a single upgrade date for each of their connected devices and is in keeping with how the majority of customers purchase their new phones today. The first customers impacted by this change are customers whose contracts expire in January 2014. Customers may purchase a new phone at the full retail price at any time prior to the end of their contract.
So if you’re getting a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 as your next smartphone, make sure its the one as you’re tied in for two years. Hmm… yes Verizon, we love you too.
