Samsung Galaxy S4 Will Come with Photo Sphere-like Camera Feature Called Samsung Orb
As the Samsung Galaxy S4 release date approaches, the details regarding the next-gen flagship of the South Korea-based phone maker are starting to pile up. Today we will be talking about the camera of the Samsung Galaxy S4.
A software engineer working in the team that develops the new Samsung Galaxy S4 has confirmed for us that the highly-anticipated smartphone will come with a new camera feature called Samsung Orb, which will work in a way similar to the Photo Sphere that was integrated in Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.
Google’s Photo Sphere function debuted on the Nexus 4, world’s first smartphone to come pre-loaded with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and Samsung Galaxy S4 will also borrow the feature becoming one of the world’s first smartphones to come with 360-degree panorama mode.
Samsung Orb will allow you to capture 360-degree panorama photos that will give you “an almost three-dimensional viewing experience.“ Samsung Galaxy S4′s Camera app software will guide you through the process of taking Orb photos and all you will have to doin order to capture a 360 degree shot is to move the handset up or down, left or right.
The Samsung engineer said that Samsung Galaxy S4′s Orb will be “even better than Photo Sphere, courtesy of the S4′s amazing camera.” He also said that Samsung is working closely with Facebook and that the users will be able to share the Orb photos on the popular social network just like they do with any other regular photo take with a smartphone’s camera.
Rumor has it that Samsung Galaxy S4 will pack a 13 megapixel camera which pared with the Samsung Orb feature will allow the users to take amazing panorama pictures.
Reports are indicating that Samsung Galaxy S4 will come with the company’s proprietary Exynos 5 Octa processor with octo-core processor and tri-core PowerVR SGX544MP3 GPU, so the powerful hardware platform will help the smartphone render Orb photos with ease.
Anyway, our source said that even though the Galaxy S4 release date is right around the corner, Samsung Orb is still in beta, but he company’s employees are working around the clock to get it finalized before the smartphone is officially unveiled. He also added that if Orb is not ready in time for Samsung Galaxy S4 launch, the new flagship smartphone will receive the new camera feature via a software update soon after it is released on the market.
Because Samsung Galaxy S4 will be announced on March 14th, the new smartphone will come pre-loaded with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean the latest Android version so far, while the new iteration of Google’s mobile operating system, unofficially dubbed Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie, will be announced at Google I/O event in May.
If it is to believe the rumors, Samsung Galaxy S4 will come with a full HD 5-inch display, finger hovering user interface, and WiFiac.
