Samsung is taking a page from Apple with the introduction of a gold version of its Galaxy S4 smartphone.
"Introducing the new #GalaxyS4 Gold Edition - for a style that's uniquely yours!" Samsung said on its Saudi Arabia Twitter feed. "Elegance is a touch of gold," reads the tagline above a photo of a pink S4 edged in gold.
On the Samsung Gulf Facebook page, meanwhile, the company tipped two gold options: Gold Brown or Gold Pink.
In accompanying photos, the smartphones had gold around their edges and the home button. Only the front of the devices were shown, however, so it's unclear if the rear of the smartphones are gold or the brown and pick colors found on the front.
No mention of the device was made on the company's other Twitter and Facebook accounts, suggesting that it might be limited to the Middle East at the moment. The company's United Arab Emirates website, however, currently only lists a white or black option.
The news comes several days after Apple introduced a gold version of its iPhone 5s smartphone, which flew off the shelves and helped Cupertino move 9 million iPhones over the weekend.
Samsung has introduced several variations on its flagship Galaxy S4 smartphone, from the rugged Galaxy S4 Active and the smaller Galaxy S4 Mini to the camera-focused Galaxy S4 Zoom. There have also been other color options, like purple.
Few hours ago, Samsung confirmed that it plans to unveil a curved smartphone sometime next month; no word on color options.
After releasing a new 90-second Galaxy S4 TV ad a few days ago, Samsung is back with a couple of shorter commercials part of the same graduation party theme.
Previously known as “Graduation Pool Party,” the Galaxy S4 ad we have already shown you is in fact called “Grad Party” and demos several Galaxy S4 software features while at the same time making fun of Apple and iPhone users in the process.
Unlike the longer ad version (the third clip embedded below), the two new commercials are much shorter and focus on only one Galaxy S4 feature each, without taking any clear hits at Apple.
“Easy Mode” is a short 15-second clip that shows us one of the Galaxy S4 features – evidently called Easy Mode – that allows inexperienced Android users enjoy the handset without having to learn everything such a smartphone has to offer.
The ad clearly shows one man’s intention of “switching” to the Galaxy S4, although a link to Apple is not clearly made, but rather left to the viewer to make.
The second video, which is a longer 30-second clip, is titled “Grad Photo” and shows another Galaxy S4 feature, Eraser Shot. With it, a mother saves a graduation photo of her son in a situation other cameras wouldn’t necessarily be able to do it. Eraser Shot is a new Galaxy S4 feature that lets users eliminate unwanted objects or people from their pictures in order to capture that perfect shot.
Hits at Apple aren’t present in this ad nor are there any subtile “switch” hints.
Samsung’s “The Next Big Thing is Here” campaign seems to be centered around youngsters and the graduation theme seems like it’s going to stick around for a while. Just as in previous series of ads, we see some of the same characters appear in more than one ad, so it’s likely to see them in the future in upcoming Galaxy S4 commercials.
While one of the thee new Galaxy S4 ads do you like best so far?
Samsung launched the much-awaited Galaxy S4 on March 14, and the top-end specifications and features of the handset are enough to compete with any other smartphone in the industry.
The Nokia Lumia 920 is one of the most powerful Windows Phone 8 (WP8) smartphones available, but are the specifications Nokia is offering enough to compete with the latest Galaxy S4?
Let's see how the Galaxy S4 compares with the Lumia 920.
Processor
The Lumia 920 features a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon Qualcomm S4 processor, which Qualcomm claims has "best in-class performance." Depending on the region, the Galaxy S4 will sport a 1.6GHz Exynos octa-core CPU (international versions) or a 1.9GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 (U.S. version).
It seems that not everyone was left impressed by the lavish unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy S4 last Thursday night. Samsung rival HTC took to Twitter to unleash a bit of bants about the slightly bizarre New York event, asking somewhat rhetorically, “How off-Broadway is this production?” accompanied by the hashtag “#theNextBigFlop”.
And it didn’t end there, with HTC CMO Ben Ho claiming that the S4 represented “more of the same”, that it “pales in comparison to the all-aluminum [sic] unibody HTC One” and that HTC customers are a discerning lot that don’t want this kind of “mainstream” phone. How very hipster of you, Mr Ho.
We’ve taken it that little bit further, asking HTC reps in the region what they think of the new Sammy S4.
The much-hyped Samsung Galaxy S4 is expected to hit the stores in India in May but it's not going to be a cakewalk for the South Korean electronics giant in this price-sensitive market. Moreover, its rival Sony has already unveiled its flagship smartphone Xperia Z in India.
Samsung on Thursday launched the most awaited smartphone of the year Galaxy S4 at New York City's historic landmark Radio City Music Hall.
The Galaxy S4 comes packed with a slew of creative features such as 'Air View' gesture control, facial movement tracker 'Smart Scroll' and 'Smart Pause' which aptly exemplifies the word smartphone. The new Galaxy S4 has its rival Apple iPhone 5 and other competitors a dwarf in terms of innovative smart technology features.
Xperia Z is no less of a competitor either. It too has a few tricks in its bag to give a stiff fight to Galaxy S4, as it boasts of an exclusive technology of its own to show-off such as Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2 display technology and Exmor RS image sensor.
