Samsung Loses $12 Billion Market Value on Galaxy S4 Sales Worries

Seoul: Samsung Electronics lost $12 billion in market value on Friday, hit by brokerage downgrades that have underscored concerns about slowing sales of its flagship Galaxy S4 smartphone.

The share slide of more than 6 per cent comes after it recently introduced two stripped-down versions of the S4, fanning worries that profit margins for its mobile business will suffer. It also follows a report that arch-rival Apple will begin a trade-in program for iPhones.
The new stripped-down S4 models will help it widen its lead in the global smartphone market and fend off Chinese competitors, but some fear that the South Korean tech giant is trading in profits for volume.
Analysts say sales momentum for the high-end version of the S4, which became its fastest selling smartphone since its launch in late April, has slowed.
"Sales of high-end handsets are lagging behind expectations, while low- to mid-end handsets are selling briskly worldwide," said Kim Young-chan, an analyst at Shinhan Investment Corp.
"As the portion of low- to mid-range handsets is expected to increase in Samsung's overall mobile phone business, this has also sparked concerns about thinning margins and lower growth."
Apple angst
Apple will start a program this month to allow users to trade their older iPhones for the newest model, Bloomberg news agency cited people familiar with the plan as saying, a first for the company as it prepares to introduce a new version of the smartphone.
"With Apple widely expected to announce an older iPhone trade-in program and also a new cheaper iPhone, overall growth prospects for (Samsung's) smartphone business have dimmed," said Kim Hyun-yong, an analyst at E*trade Securities.
"Second-quarter results will be solid but we have to see whether the trend can be sustainable going forward."
Shares in Samsung finished down 6.2 per cent at their lowest level in four months, wiping out 14 trillion won of value to bring its market cap to 210.2 trillion won ($188 billion).
It was their biggest daily percentage drop since late August when the stock tumbled more than 7 per cent following a US jury verdict that it infringed on Apple's patents.
Samsung, which represents nearly 20 per cent of the main bourse's market value, helped send the main stock index 1.9 per cent lower, while suppliers of smartphone components were also hammered.
Downgrades
Brokerage downgrades this week included a 4.8 per cent cut in Samsung's price target to 2.0 million won from Woori Securities. It cited weakening profit growth for Samsung's mobile business, which generates around 70 per cent of its total earnings.
It also cut 2013 and 2014 earnings per share forecasts by 9.2 per cent and 11.7 per cent respectively.
JPMorgan slashed its earnings estimates and said monthly orders for the S4 have been cut by 20-30 per cent to 7-8 million from July due to weak demand in Europe and South Korea.
Among smartphone component suppliers taking a battering, camera module maker Partron tumbled 11 per cent, printed circuit board maker Interflex dived 10.6 per cent and camera lens manufacturer Digital Optics shed 12 per cent.
Ratings agency Fitch Ratings also said on Thursday it was not planning to upgrade Samsung's A+ rating in the medium term due to its heavy reliance on the fickle consumer electronics market, in particular handsets.
"Samsung has yet to prove its 'creative' innovation, that is, launching a product or a market segment that has not existed before in addition to prowess in manufacturing technology," Fitch said. ($1 = 1115.8500 Korean won)

Samsung says it sells 4 Galaxy S4 phones every second

More than 10 million units of the smartphone have been sold since its April 27 launch....
SINGAPORE – Samsung today announced that less than a month after its launch, global sales of its Galaxy S4 smartphone has passed 10 million units. Launched globally on April 27, the Korean company estimates that the phone is selling at a rate of four units per second.
In comparison, sales of the Galaxy S III reached the 10-million mark 50 days after its launch last year, while the Galaxy S II took five months and the Galaxy S seven months to reach the same milestone.
“On behalf of Samsung, I would like to thank the millions of customers around the world who have chosen the Samsung GALAXY S4,” said Mr J K Shin, CEO and President of the IT and Mobile Communications Division at Samsung.
Samsung GALAXY S4, which features the world’s first Full HD Super AMOLED display and a 13-megapixel camera, is currently available in more than 110 countries.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Artic Blue Color Released at Docomo in Japan

Style and appearance are some of the features when considering which handset to purchase. Whether it be a smooth crystal color or a wacky and tacky bubblegum colors, the purchase would be dependent on the likeness of the style. Nowadays, the more stylish and elegant a handset looks, the better and more preferable it would be for the market. This may be why the more colors and styles there can be, the more options there will be introduced to the market which will give the company the higher probability of earning more. This is what Docomo did when the company introduced a new color for their version of Samsung Galaxy S4.

Docomo Company: New Color for Samsung Galaxy S4

A company based in Japan introduced a new color makeshift for Samsung Galaxy S4. While most know that Galaxy S4 can be purchased in colors White Frost and Black Mist, Docomo launched a new color in the market, the Arctic Blue Galaxy S4. The Samsung Galaxy S4 SC-04E is said to be only available in Japan. Launched last May 15, 2013, the Arctic Blue Galaxy S4 caught Japan in a swirl. Its availability in the other parts of the world though like Europe and US is still unknown.

The popularity of the Arctic blue Galaxy S4 expanded from Japan to the whole world made the web users to buzz around on the probability of having one for their own.

Samsung Galaxy S4 SC-O4E Arctic Blue Features

Using Snapdragon 600 Quad-core 1.9 GHz with 2GB RAM, Galaxy S4 Arctic Blue has an internal storage capacity of 32GB and up to 64GB memory card capacity. Using the latest Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2, it has two cameras like the other Galaxy S4 handsets. The rear camera is around 13.2 megapixels while the front facing camera is 2.1 megapixels. Arctic Blue Galaxy S4 has the same specs and features as the other S4 handsets, but what makes it special is how elegant it looks to the market. With the shiny and smooth blue elegant look that this specific Samsung Galaxy S4 has, lots of people would want to grab a hold of the said handset. In addition to that, the fact that most people have black or white handsets, having the arctic blue one would be great.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition Release Date: June 26 With Stock Android OS for $649

At the Google I/O 2013 conference that debuted on May 15th, the Mountain View-based company made an announcement that will please the fans of the Vanilla Android experience. The Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition release date will be June 26th, a variant of the popular flagship of the South Korea-based company that is running stock Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 will be available in Google Play Store at a price of $649, and, just like the terminals of the Nexus family, it will be in the first wave of devices that receive the latest Android updates. I am fully confident that a lot of users will show interest in the device, even though it has a quite expensive price. The Samsung Galaxy S4 sold by Google will have 16 GB of internal storage and 4G LTE modem compatible with AT&T and T-Mobile networks. As I was mentioning before, the Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition release date is June 26.
Why is Google’s offer so attractive? I’m glad you’ve asked. Samsung Galaxy S4 is a highly appreciated smartphone, both in terms of performance and technical specifications. Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition comes with a powerful chipset (most likely the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 with four Krait 300 cores at 1.9 GHz and Adreno 320 GPU since it is compatible with the AT&T and T-Mobile LTE bands), a 5-inch full HD display and an impressive 13 megapixel camera sensor  mounted on the back.
Unfortunately, many of the customers that already purchased the Samsung Galaxy S4 with Nature UX have complained about the multitude of apps that come pre-installed on it. Some of them might be useful in some cases, but not all of them can be unistalled and they are occupying quite a lot of internal storage.
A clean version of Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean will probably be more appreciated than TouchWiz Nature UX, despite the fact that the apps and features developed by Samsung for the Galaxy S4 will not be available. Google will sell the smartphone with an unlocked bootloader, which is good news for those who want to stick their noses in the advanced functions of the operating system.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition specs list also includes 2 GB of RAM, all standards of WiFi, microSD card slot, NFC chip, 4G LTE, IR blaster, 3.5 mm audio jack, Bluetooth 4.0, and microUSB 2.0.
What would you choose: the original SGS4 or the Galaxy S4 Google Edition? We are waiting for your comments and answers in the special section below.

Samsung Galaxy S4 'Google Edition' Smartphone For Developers Unveiled at Google I/O

Google’s action-packed Google I/O keynote now may include one less surprise. As details of Google’s big announcements continue to leak, Geek reports that one device set to debut on stage at I/O is a brand new version of Samsung’s popular Galaxy S4. The “Galaxy S4 Google Edition” will reportedly be a Pure Google version of Samsung’s flagship smartphone. According to the report, it will run stock Android (perhaps version 4.3, which is rumored to be unveiled at the show as well) and it will launch in June with support for T-Mobile’s network.
If the rumor pans out, the Galaxy S4 Google Edition will be the latest of five different versions of Samsung’s flagship phone. Beyond the original model and the Google version, Samsung is also reportedly prepping the Galaxy S4 Zoom with a 16-megapixel camera that supports 10x optical zoom, the ruggedized Galaxy S4 Activ, and a more manageable version of the S4 dubbed Galaxy S4 mini.
The Google I/O keynote begins at 12:00 p.m. EDT and BGR will be covering all the news as it breaks.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Shipments Top 6 Million In 15 Days

Samsung has confirmed via the Korean website Chosun Ilbo that it has shipped over 6 million units of the Galaxy S4 since its international release on April 26. According to the firm, this is the fastest ever sell rate for a Galaxy S smartphone, or any other Samsung smartphone for that matter.

Specifically, the Galaxy S4 hit 4 million shipments between April 26 (release date) and April 30, and had reached 6 million units sold by May 10.
For a little perspective, the Galaxy S sold 3 million units in 85 days, while the Galaxy S2 took 55 days to achieve the same feat, and the Galaxy S III hit the 3 million mark in just 21 days.
An executive at the company told Chosun Ilbo the following:
“As of the end of April, we supplied four million Galaxy S4 handsets to telecommunication operators around the world. As of Friday, we have sold more than 6 million units, and we predict that we could break the 10-million mark by as early as the end of this month.”
It’s worth noting that these “sales” are to wireless operators, and not direct to consumers. In other words, Samsung has shipped 6 million units of the Galaxy S4 since April 26.
Obviously, the Galaxy S line is selling notably well for Samsung, and the progress from one generation to the next is made clear by these figures. But even though Samsung dominates the market right now, and has a near-monopoly on Android, the iPhone is still technically a faster selling phone than any of Samsung’s Galaxy models.
Remember when the iPhone 5 launched? Apple clocked over 2 million pre-orders for the latest-generation iPhone in the first 24 hours it was available. For pre-order.
And where progress is concerned, the iPhone’s popularity grows with each generation as well, and in this case even faster than Samsung’s Galaxy S line. iPhone 5 pre-orders were 2x the number of pre-orders seen for the iPhone 4S.
In either case, both companies are raking in the dough with their flagship lines.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini may come with 4.3-inch screen

For the last few days, technology websites have been abuzz with reports suggesting that Samsung is planning to launch the Galaxy S4 Mini soon. Recently Technodify.com has posted leaked images of Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini.

The images suggest that the design of Samsung Galaxy S4 mini resembles that of Samsung Galaxy S4 .
The Technodify.com report says that Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini is likely to be 4.3-inch device with a qHD Super AMOLED display. The same report suggests that Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini will be powered by 1.6GHz dual core processor with 1GB of RAM.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini is likely to run on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean Operating System, says the report.

Recent reports also suggest that Apple is working on a less expensive model of iPhone to take on the rising popularity of low-cost Android devices.

Verizon’s Samsung Galaxy S4 Now Launching May 23 (Updated)

According to a Verizon PR rep, their Samsung Galaxy S4  launch has been moved up to May 23. Previously scheduled for May 30, this is exciting news for Big Red customers who were beginning to feel left out of the GS4 party. Samsung’s newest flagship is already available on every other major carrier in the U.S. Verizon doesn’t typically provide details on why their devices tend to (almost always) launch later than similar phones from other carriers, but we often attribute it to their testing procedures, which have a reputation in the industry for being slow.

We should point out that a quick browsing of Verizon’s website still shows May 30 as the ship date for orders. That could change, though.
Update:  Verizon has updated their press note for the Galaxy S4 with a mention of May 23. The device will be available both in stores and online that day.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Landing On WIND Mobile On May 14 For $699

Samsung Galaxy S4 has already started to get in the hands of millions of customers worldwide and why should WIND Mobile customers wait for long? The Canadian carrier has sent out an email to its customers confirming that it's launching the much-awaited handset on May 14, priced at $699 outright.

The recently launched Galaxy S4 doesn't need any selling but still customers want to know the carriers selling the handset and also the best available deals. As the handset has already launched on other Canadian carriers, and WIND Mobile seems a bit late in offering the handset, the carrier wouldn't want to miss out on its share of capturing more customers with the the help of the one of the most popular handsets currently available.

A recent Mobile Syrup report says "WIND Mobile will be adding the Samsung Galaxy S4 to their lineup next week. An email blast was sent out to interested customers informing them that the official launch date is Tuesday, May 14th. Looks like WIND has priced the GS4, in both black and white, at $699 outright and $399 on the WINDTab."
In addition, the email noted that the new flagship Galaxy is "available for new and current customers on May 14th. Eligible WINDTab upgrades will be available starting June 14th."
WIND Mobile started taking pre-orders for the Galaxy S4 from early April and must have received a lot of orders from eager customers. Canadian customers have already started to receive the Galaxy S4 from other carriers like Rogers and Bell who are charging $199 for the handset on a three-year contract and $699 outright.
Samsung announced the Galaxy S4 on all Canadian carriers apart from MTS in Manitoba.
The top-end Galaxy S4 has high-end specifications and has received a lot of hype before and also after the launch.
We will have to wait a bit more to find if the Galaxy S4 lives up to smartphones users' expectations.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Activ waterproof S4 spin-off due in July

Like the Samsung Galaxy S4, but worry it isn't mini enough, active enough or er, zoom-y enough? Then look out for the S4 Mini, S4 Activ and S4 Zoom reported to be landing in Europe in June and July.
The rumoured S4 spin-off share the S4 name, but if the S3 Mini is anything to go by, they won't simply be the S4 with knobs on.
SamMobile reports release dates for the new S4 phones, starting with the Galaxy S4 Activ. Although nothing's official yet, the S4 Activ is rumoured to be a rugged version of the S4, protected against the elements with a waterproof and dustproof casing. It's expected in the week of 15 July.
We've already heard whispers about the S4 Mini, expected to be a lower-cost version of the S4 but most likely with correspondingly lower specs. That's expected in mid-July too.
And the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom is rumoured to arrive in the first week of June with a black casing, followed a couple of weeks later by a white model. The Zoom is expected to be a new version of the S4 with a 16-megapixel camera, beefed up from the S4's 13 megapixels.
The new versions of the S4 join an illustrious lineage of Galaxy S phones -- hit play on our video below for the evolution of some of the finest phones known to man.

Samsung Galaxy S4 having maximum deals at Walmart

Those looking for a deal on a Samsung Galaxy S4 should look no further than Walmart as the retailer has announced that it currently has the AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile models on sale with prices that are cheaper than other outlets.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 has been on sale for a few weeks now in the United States and finally, after some inventory issues, retailers are kicking off their own Galaxy S4 launches. Following in the footsteps of Staples is Walmart, which has informed Gotta Be Mobile that it is now carrying three of the big four Galaxy S4 devices on the market. It has also revealed that it has begun taking pre-orders for the Verizon Galaxy S4.
The retailer now has the AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile Galaxy S4 models on sale at its stores and it’s offering them with prices that are extremely competitive with carrier pricing.

Walmart is currently offering the AT&T Galaxy S4 for $168, a price that is below the $199.99 asking price at AT&T. It’s offering the Sprint Galaxy S4 for $224 which is a bit off the $250 price that Sprint is charging. Sprint is only charging $199.99 to those who bring a new number to the carrier, everyone else is stuck with a $250 price tag.
As for T-Mobile, Walmart is offering up the device for $198 and it requires a new two year contract. That is different than T-Mobile’s offer which stands at $150 down and then monthly payments to pay off the full price of the phone. T-Mobile no longer requires contracts with its phones.

Walmart has also begun taking pre-orders for the Galaxy S4 ahead of its arrival on May 30th. The retailer says that consumers will need to purchase a $25 pre-order card and then wait for a call from an associate when the device arrives in store later on this month. It’s on a first come first serve basis so there is no guarantee that pre-orderers will get it on release day.
The Verizon Galaxy S4 will also be hitting Verizon and several other retailers including Best Buy and RadioShack starting May 30th.
Samsung’s Galaxy S4 is the company’s latest flagship device, checking in with a 5-inch 1080p display, quad-core processor, 13MP, Android 4.2, and several smart features from Samsung.

Samsung Galaxy S4 mini tipped to arrive in July

Some sneaky Samsung insider has managed to spill the release date beans on a number of new handsets due to come out of the Korean manufacturer in the next month.
The news come from SamMobile sources, who claim we’ll see the much talked about Samsung Galaxy S4 mini arrive in week 29 – which is mid-June – in both black and white guises to match the flagship Galaxy S4.
On Tuesday we reported that another version of the Galaxy S4 may be in the works over in Korea with news that the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom is on the cards complete with a 16MP camera.

Activ Zoom

According to the same SamMobile sources the Galaxy S4 Zoom release date is pegged for week 23 for the black version and week 25 for the white hue – that’s early and mid June respectively.
We’re not done though, as rumours about a rugged Galaxy S4 which surfaced back in April have been reignited in this information leak, with a device going my the moniker Samsung Galaxy S4 Activ scheduled to arrive in week 29, alongside the S4 mini.
Apparently the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini, Galaxy S4 Zoom and Galaxy S4 Activ will all be announced at the end of the month, although it’s not clear how well connected these sources are so a certain amount of caution needs to be applied here.
Is this potential overkill from Samsung or will the vast range of S4 branded smartphones see it remain dominant at the top of the market? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Costs $237 to Build, Teardown Analysis Shows

A look inside Samung’s new high-profile smartphone, the Galaxy S4, shows that the South Korean electronics giant is using numerous components produced by its various internally owned subsidiaries.
A teardown analysis conducted by the market research firm IHS, due to be released tomorrow, has pegged Samsung’s cost of materials and manufacturing to produce the U.S. version of the 32 gigabyte model of the S4 at slightly above $237 per unit. Without a contract subsidy, the entry-level 16GB version of the phone costs $639 when sold by AT&T Wireless.
The cost is somewhat higher than that of Apple’s iPhone 5, the base model of which costs $205 to build for a 16GB version, according to an IHS analysis conducted last fall. It’s also well above the cost of Nokia’s Lumia 900, which costs $209 to build, IHS found at the time.
The S4 cost is not far below the cost of Samsung’s larger Galaxy Note tablet, the cost of which IHS estimated last year to be $270.
Most phone manufacturers source their components from many different suppliers. But Samsung, a large, diversified manufacturer of many different kinds of electronic components, has used its significant capabilities to supply itself with many of the key parts inside most versions of the S4 phone sold around the world.
“Samsung’s strength is this ability to in-source to itself,” IHS analyst Vincent Leung said in an interview. “They just keep adding to the list of components that they can supply to themselves.”
One key component that Samsung did not supply to itself for versions of the phone being sold in the U.S. was the main applications processor. U.S. versions of the phone contain a Snapdragon processor from Qualcomm, which contributes $20 to the overall cost.
Versions of the phone sold in Korea and other markets around the world contain a Samsung-made chip called the Exynos 5 Octa that costs $28. Samsung is known to be manufacturing at least four variations of the phone for different market geographies around the world, including at least two being sold in the U.S., one going to AT&T and T-Mobile, and another going to Verizon Wireless and Sprint, said Andrew Rassweiler, another IHS analyst.
“Samsung is demonstrating its ability to suit the tastes of carriers in different regions of the world,” Rassweiler said. “It comes down to what the market is willing to spend on the features offered.”
The fact that Samsung used the Qualcomm-made chip is a testament to the U.S. chipmaker’s prowess. “Even with all the vertical integration it’s doing, it’s not like Samsung has given up on Qualcomm,” Rassweiler said.
One interesting difference between the U.S. and Korean versions resulted from the difference in the choice of processor. U.S. versions of the phone contain an image-processing chip made by Japan’s Fujitsu that added $1.50 to the total cost. Leung says that in the Korean versions, some of the image processing is handed off to Samsung’s Exynos chip.
Samsung also supplied the flash memory used to store data on the device. IHS estimates that 16GB of memory added $28 to the cost of the device.
The Korean giant also supplied itself with a display and touchscreen parts, which added $75 to the cost of components. The combined display package also includes Gorilla Glass, a strong glass material made by U.S.-based Corning.
Samsung is also thought to have supplied itself with several unlabeled components, including the camera module and some wireless baseband chips.
A few non-Samsung suppliers include Broadcom, which provided Bluetooth and Wi-Fi chips; Maxim, which provided a power-management chip; and Triquint Semiconductor, which provided some wireless chips.

32GB AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4 now available

$249.99 on two-year plan, "black mist" color only

Right on schedule, AT&T has launched its 32GB version of the Samsung Galaxy S4. If you're after a Galaxy S4 with a bit more internal storage -- and after the recent controversy surrounding the S4's available memory, we wouldn't blame you -- it'll set you back $249.99 on a two-year plan. That's $50 more than the base 16GB model, which goes for $199.99. If you're buying it outright, you're looking at a hefty $669.99 price tag.
At the moment it seems AT&T is only stocking the 32GB Galaxy S4 in the "black mist" color option, as the store page for the 32GB model doesn't allow you to pick a color.
Anyone picking up a 32GB GS4 today? Or are there any 16GB buyers out there wishing they'd waited a little longer and paid a bit more? Hit the comments and share your thoughts.

Late last month, there was a scramble among Dubai customers when Samsung released the Galaxy S4 into the market here.
Eager fans had been assembling outside the Samsung store from as early as 6.30am to snap the latest device from Samsung on Saturday, April 27, when the smartphone went on sale for general public.
Emirates 24|7 witnessed heated arguments between impatient fans and the store management that was clearly trying its best to organise the customers and dole out the Galaxy S4 as soon as they possibly could.
Part of the reason for the rush then was that the Samsung store had announced a Dh444 in-store voucher for the first 200 customers, which was enough to result in a mob assembling outside the Samsung store.
With Etisalat offering the phone free (bundled with its monthly data package), it will be fair to assume that there will be a crowd this evening too.

Samsung Knox Security Software Activated For Galaxy S4

Last month we heard that Samsung Galaxy S4 will not ship with the company’s Knox security software at launch. The delay in launch was because Samsung decided to further test the software both internally and with its carrier partners. Samsung confirmed the delay and clarified that while Galaxy S4 ships with Knox’s framework components installed, activation lies with solution providers. Samsung has now confirmed that it has activated Knox security software, activation for the end user ultimately rests in the hands of their mobile carrier. The company says that commercial availability of Know depends on B2B contracts.
Knox is almost similar in functionality to BlackBerry Balance, which allows users to use their corporate and personal accounts on the same device and easily switch between the two through passwords. BlackBerry has always touted the enhanced security of its platform, but manufacturers such as Samsung are continuously eroding its share in that particular niche as well. Only recently Samsung Galaxy devices were approved for use by the Pentagon, these devices come with Knox pre-installed. With the increasing popularity of Samsung’s devices, having a stable and solid security software on their high-end smartphones will open up new avenues of business with companies and corporations.

Samsung Galaxy S4 marketing campaign takes over London's IMAX cinema

The marketing campaign for Samsung's Galaxy S4 is ramping up with the electronics manufacturer taking over London's IMAX cinema for a striking out-of-home stunt.
The takeover is the first of its kind for the brand and was organised through Cheil UK. Samsung's UK marketing campaign recently kicked off with the broadcast of the first of two TV advertsfor the new smartphone model.
Avikar Jolly, head of brand and communications, Samsung UK & Ireland, said: "The IMAX is London's most iconic OOH site, so it's fitting that Samsung is using it for the launch of the Galaxy S4. The execution is simple but all-encompassing, and we're expecting to deliver great cut-through."
Fiona FitzGibbon, head of out-of-home at Cheil UK, said: “The Galaxy S4 is at the cutting edge of technology, so we wanted to do something special to bring the product to life.
"To do this, we are putting Samsung’s stamp on the largest and arguably most iconic site in the UK. By changing the colour of the bulbs to Samsung blue we hope to create comprehensive stand out."
The Carphone Warehouse started its marketing campaign for the Galaxy S4 last week by teaming up with Fonejacker.

Samsung Galaxy S4 now on sale in Kenya

NAIROBI, Kenya, May 7- Use of smartphones in Kenya has grown in the last few months, giving Samsung a 43 percent lead in the market.
Speaking during the launch of Samsung Galaxy S4 at a Nairobi hotel, Samsung Electronics East Africa Chief Operating Officer, Robert Ngeru said the high demand in smartphones had grown because people were looking for more in connectivity and data.

The number of Internet users in Kenya stood at 16.2 million by December 31 last year, an 11.6 percent growth from the 14.5 million users recorded at the end of September 2012.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 launch in Nairobi comes as part of an on-going global launch of the smartphone in key markets and just a week from the launch of the handset in South Africa.
“The Samsung Galaxy S4 is slimmer yet stronger, with less to hold yet more to see. It has come up with simply unreal beauty. In the East African market, this smart phone will be available in black mist and white frost colour shades,” Ngeru said.
He further added that the phone has a highly crafted design encompassing a larger screen size and battery, minimized bezel; all housed in a light (130g) and slim (7.9mm) shape.
The phone is equipped with a 13 megapixel rear camera and also boasts a dual camera function that allows simultaneous use of both front and rear cameras.

32GB AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4 Launches May 10 for $249.99

AT&T just confirmed in an email statement (and via Twitter) that it will begin selling the 32GB model of the Galaxy S4 on May 10 for $249.99 with a new two-year contract. The device is not yet listed on the carrier’s website, so it doesn’t appear that AT&T is taking pre-orders at this time. Thankfully, for 16GB owners, the Galaxy S4 supports microSD cards up to 64GB in capacity, so you still have a nice padding if you already grabbed the phone.
Samsung recently defended the storage limits on the 16GB model – almost half of the storage is already taken up by Samsung’s own software – and advised users to buy a microSD card to quell storage concerns. The company said the added storage was consumed in an effort to provide “more powerful features” to consumers. Unfortunately, however, applications on unrooted devices can only be installed to the internal flash memory and not to a microSD card, which can be used for multimedia files, so you’re still pretty limited.

Wait is over tonight in UAE for Samsung's Galaxy S4 4G LTE 'iPhone killer'

Fans desperate to get their hands on the 4G LTE version of Samsung's latest 'iphone killer' will only have to wait until pm tonight, as Etisalat brings forward the launch.

The 3G version hit the shops at the end of April but now the 4G model, which promises much faster internet browsing, will be available from stores across selected Etisalat stores in all seven emirates.

The phone company is selling the device for Dh2,749, but can be obtained for free by signing up to a contract. Under the installment Plan, users will get 2GB of data for DH249 per month over an 18-month contract. Under the Samsung S4 Plan, users get 4GB of data, 800 standard voice minutes, 200 international voice minutes and 200 SMS for Dh449 per month over a 12-month contract.
Khaled El Khouly, chief marketing Officer, Etisalat said: "Our 4G LTE network, which now covers 80 per cent of the inhabited area of the country, allows users of 4G phones to connect to the internet at speeds up to 150 MBPS. Such speeds allow work and productivity applications to operate more swiftly, and for deeper levels of enjoyment in entertainment and gaming."
The Galaxy S4 is expected to be a major rival to Apple's iPhone, especially in the UAE, where it is thought Samsung users make up around 45 per cent of the market.
